If God is in the places where we don't want to look...

Then is God in the people that employ sweatshop workers...
in the greedy politicians that over-exploit nature
for her much used up natural resources...
in the boss that unjustly fired you from your
much needed job that feeds your family...
in the parents that beat a child...

in the tree that is threatening your plumbing
                      system...
in the weeds that are strangling your roses...
in the rock that you just stubbed your toe on...

in the falling snow that turns your fingers
purple when you forget your gloves...
in the falling rain that gets you soaked
                      when you forget your umbrella...
in the sleet that you just slipped on,
causing you to break your arm...

in the dog that barks all night long, keeping
                      you awake...
in the termites that chew away at your house,
                      threatening it's foundation...
in the roaches that you kill to have a sanitary
                      home...
in the locusts that just destroyed your crop...

in the ghetto streets that most people are afraid
                      to walk down...
in the parts of cities and towns that most people
                      don't want to live in...
in third world countries that people leave behind
in order to get the food and clothing that are
produced in their own countries that they have
                      no access to...

If God is in these places where we don't want to look,
then in the end my friend, I don't want to pretend
to be the judge of the places that God would or
would not be in...
