My senses are awakened by the rain
As the drops slowly wash away the pain
Of a heart closed off from what it desperately wanted

Slowly it moves into a space
Where it feels closer to what it can have
Instead of what could never be
Knowing it can never walk in that direction again
So it finds a new path to tread
That will bring it the happiness it deserves
Not the wall of rejection that it stood up against for so long

Finally it feels free to be
Without holding onto "what if?" anymore
Because reaching for what is
         instead of what isn't
Makes the heart feel warm and full of love
By knowing that people are around
To share your ups and downs

So by keeping all blame out of sight
While turning to the right
I let go of love that's unwanted by you and now by me
As my heart holds onto what is needed
To walk the road of life that lies ahead
