You are our Supreme Devi
In the form of our Dark Mother of the Universe
Our Dark Mother of death
Death of our inner demons
Our inner demons that are killed when You do Your
    dance of death
You who appear terrifying to some
but to us...
We see You as You truly are...
A loving Goddess who wants to cut from us, with Your sword,
    our ignorance, and lead us to our ultimate enlightenment

and You Kali...
You have 3 eyes
So You can watch over us wherever we are
Protect us when we are at our most vulnerable
Your tongue juts out of Your black face
    and You wear a garland of 50 skulls
    and earrings of death
So sweetly bejeweled with the spiritual macabre
Your hands hold weapons, one being a trident,
    Your emblem of Your intrinsic spiritual powers
Your spiritual powers over the 3 qualities -
    sattva, rajas and tamas
    and...
    the 3 aspects of time -
    the past, present and future
because You Kali, You are the force of all time
    that leads ever onward to destruction
and...
You, after everything is destroyed, are the timeless sleep
    that the new age will awaken to

So Kali...
With recitation of Your Adi Devatha Kali Mantra
       Om Shri Kali Kambhigai Namaha!
       108 times over our japa beads
We call You forth into our lives to guide us on
    our spiritual path

because Kali...
it is You who are the ultimate Shakti
it is You who offers us a chance to face down our own
    inner demons
it is You that many poets sing rapturously to
for You are our blissful Goddess
for You free us of all our fear
For You...
You Kali, You are our Great Dark Mother
You, Kali, You are our Goddess that holds and comforts
    us when we fear to tread thru our own dark side
Our own dark side where our inner demons reside

and Kali...
Dear Kali...
With one taste of Your Divine Love
                               Your Divine Ecstasy
You will transform our life forever
Forever into the Holy, and Holy into the forever
The forever of our ultimate and immortal bliss
That is sealed permanently with Your spiritual kiss
