Rumi,
did you find your beloved
your beloved of forevermore
that for what seemed like an eternity
    you were looking for
that you searched high and low for
that you turned over every rock for
to see if She was under there
that you traveled every town for
to see if He was in hiding somewhere

Rumi,
did you find your beloved
     in the ocean waters
          blue flow over me...
     beneath the earth's covering
           bury me for i have found Them...
     in the dancing flowers
           sweet beauty's essence...
     in the vast sky above
           look down upon me with love...

Rumi,
did you look to the moon
    or could you not recognize Her face
    during Her changes...
did you look to the sun
    or did He blind you and you stopped
    looking when He left you for a moment...
did you feel their love for you
    you should always feel Their love...
or were you so caught up in searching
    all you need is within...
searching so hard that you forgot that Her truth
    was inside you from the beginning
forget that He was the words in your head
telling you of the path that you must tread

Rumi,
did He embrace you on your last face of death
did She breathe for you your last life's breath
or were you so scared of dying
that you missed hearing the calm silence
    when They came for you

Rumi,
whatever you thought the outcome of your search was
They were always there for you when you needed Them
this i know that you truly knew
that is why your material wants were few
unlike mine which at times are far from divine
